This project had the objective of formulating strategic recommendations that would serve as a point of reference for the main stakeholders involved in marine and coastal conservation, as well as guiding interventions in this area in the short and medium term. In addition to Cape Verde, the study, which was funded by the MAVA Foundation, covers Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, and Mauritania.
BoG contributed to the work that was undertaken in Cape Verde, focusing on the islands of Fogo, Boavista, and Maio, by carrying out the following activities: studying and selecting the most relevant aspects of change and economic and social recovery in the post-COVID period; identifying and characterising the main drivers; and building a relationship matrix between the main drivers and the MAVA’s Outcome Action Plans (OAPs). The results of these activities were integrated into a report and presented publicly at a workshop held in Praia, Cape Verde. The purpose of this was to collate the contributions of the various participants and to integrate them into the final report. It is intended to serve as a point of reference and a guidance tool for all actors involved in marine and coastal conservation.
